About Gemma

The RYG Story

I have always loved sports, fitness and exercise.  My career in health and fitness began in Thailand where I spent some time managing a Thai Boxing School for tourists. On returning to the UK I qualified as a Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist in 2006 and started my personal training business, specialising in training women.  I also became the first female trainer at Islington Boxing Club, London, where I taught large recreational boxing sessions.   

With my fitness background in boxing, I utilised my knowledge to create boxing-based training sessions, incorporating both resistance training and bodyweight exercises, which I found had both physical and mental benefits to clients.  In 2014 I discovered Animal Flow –  a ground-based bodyweight movement discipline, which added further dimensions of strength, mobility and mindfulness into sessions.  In 2016 I qualified as a Holistic Core Restore® coach, specialising in post natal rehabilitation, including working with diastasis recti and mild pelvic floor dysfunction.  

My sessions cater specifically for individual clients and can incorporate boxing fitness, animal flow, resistance training, core stability, weights and high intensity cardio.  From both a physical and mental health point of view, I am passionate about helping women reach their goals.
